Bicycle accidents in Pennsylvania can occur in suburban neighborhoods, in the city and in rural areas. Because a bicyclist has virtually no protection while riding, oftentimes serious or fatal injury can be sustained should a collision with an automobile occur. According to the NHTSA, 716 bicyclists were killed in traffic related accidents in 2008 with one-seventh of them being between the ages of 5 and 15 years of age.

It is the responsibility of both motorists and bicyclists to be aware of their surroundings and watch out for each other. Not doing so may result in serious injury or death.
