Four Children Injured in West Philadelphia Bus Crash
Philly.com reported that at least four children were injured in a school bus crash in West Philadelphia on October 18. A total of 18 students were on the bus when it ran into a car at 63rd Street and Lebanon Avenue in Overbrook, PA. The injured students were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Since 1998, there have been 414,339 fatalities due to motor vehicle crashes. Thirty-four percent of those were school-transportation related. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, about 19 children die each year in school bus accidents. About two-thirds of those incidents involve pedestrian accidents outside the bus.
