Upper Darby SEPTA Bus Crash Injures Three
The Delaware County Times reported on October 5 that two cars and a SEPTA bus were involved in an accident that injured three people. Two cars were stopped at an intersection in Delaware County when a bus rear-ended a Jeep, which then struck the car in front of it. Three bus passengers suffered injuries and were taken to Delaware County Memorial Hospital.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, 37% of all accidents in 2008 occurred at intersections.
When entering an intersection, drivers need to be alert and careful. An intersection accident has the potential of harming pedestrians on the street, other drivers in vehicles and individuals in surrounding buildings.
Some common causes of Pennsylvania car accidents at intersections include:
- Driver negligence such as driving while using a cell phone or an inexperienced driver
- Defective or broken safety signals and signs
- Driver misconduct such as driving while intoxicated, speeding or reckless driving
- Construction zones
- Inferior road design
